Intestate succession.
What happens to your money and assets when you die without a will?
It is a myth that your money goes to the government. There is a specific act called the Intestate Succession Act which determines in great detail who gets your possessions after your death.
Basically, your closest family like wife and children are first in line to inherit and, if none, then it is inherited by your relatives further down the line like brothers and sisters then parents, then nieces and nephews, then aunts and uncles etc. according to the principles set out in the Act.
However, if you don’t have a will, or your circumstances have changed and you wish to amend your will, contact Bothas Incorporated for expert advice and assistance.
